The Newborn

This sculpture has taken on new meaning with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, symbolizing the struggles of many people who have been, are, and will be forced to carry out pregnancies against their will - continuing a cycle of suffering and uncertainty under the guise of saving lives. The uncomfortable tactility and aroma of the skin of the structure is barely stitched together, with thread spilling from it, as emotional turmoil and physical imbalance in forcing this form into creation as it is still developing. The ambiguous creature retains focus on itself, disregarding the laborious and costly process of its creation.
